Who Are Your
Key People?
Think about your business. Who are the people
in your company that makes things tick. Is it your top sales
person? your sales manager? the IT specialist, the marketing
director or evan your PA? A number of different people help
to run a business and you need to decide which ones you can
afford not to loose. As mentioned before, people do die or
suffer from critical illness's and as a boss its unfortunately
not your decision as to who and when this happens. You will
need to asses how much financially your company could suffer
if you lost one of your key workers. It could be that you
will need to look at insuring all of the directors in a company.
Imagine what could happen if a reckless member of a directors
family received a share in your company on death. Key man
insurance may give you the money to buy that person out saving
you from many possible problems in the future. It could be
that your company rely's heavily on its web site and would
be in deep trouble without your expert web page and IT expert.
The loss of your top sales person who's sometimes keeps your
company running could cause you to shut up shop.
Obviously these people can leave and often do
move on to other companies but you will normally at least
have some notice.
Remember company's are often only as good as
the people that run them and you should therefore stop and
seriously think about who are your key people and how do I
protect my company?
